I lived in Chatanooga in the 90′s, and was had to come back to NYC for a number of years. Now I’m moving back to Chatt, and can’t wait to sit down for a Merv burger. They are truly the BEST burgers I’ve ever had (yeah, I’ve had 5 Guys), north south east or west! Big and juicy, with huge slices of fresh onions tomatoes and lettuce. Spectacular! The atmosphere is simple and comfortable, and the folks treat you like family. I can’t wait to load up the wife and kids to trek on there!!!

Central Park

I am a french fry fanatic, my top pick has always been pronto pups french fries. But central park tops those!! they are amazing. As for the burgers, they’re okay but I have had better. I’ll be going back soon for another “bucket of fries”

Almost the Best Its hard for this to be a second place, but you its impossible to beat an In ‘N Out Burger. The only “bad” thing is that the size of the fries is overwhelming. If you are eating alone, even the small fries will be too much to eat. If you are a pair or even a group of three, the small fries will be more than enough.

This place is consistantly good, and the service has always been excellent. Since I’m the hot dog person, that’s what I aways get, and my husband has the hamburger. I’ve been trying hot dogs all over town this summer, and this hot dog is the best in town to date. Everything adds up – the bun, the slaw, the dog, the chili, etc. Top hot dog joint in my book. Also in response to a previous review, the drinks are in adequately sized cups, and there are free refills from a free-standing, serve-yourself drink station. I’ve been coming here for years and will continue to do so!

The Pickle Barrel Restaurant

People say they love the burgers, fried pickles, and the outdoor seating on rooftop. Its your classic neighborhood bar with good greasy food (almost have a Cheer’s feeling to it). The atmosphere is old and grungy, which is a great reminder of old Chattanooga. You come here to sip a cold PBR and eat a burger. Staff is friendly and some are talkative but don’t expect too much out of the servers. They aren’t mean or bad, they just give you average service. Still, Pickle Barrel is an old Chattanooga classic.

Kevin Brown’s Burgers

These guys have been a staple to the area for years and you can still get the same taste for half the price, for instance you can get a bacon cheeseburger for only 4.50. The burgers are so big the waitress may ask if you need a FORK!! Big burger, lots of onions, tomatoes. This is a local favorite. DRIVE HERE! It is a little shack of a building on the corner. Seating for maybe 12 people. One of my top five burgers.
