This is the type of place people love to tell you about — the seemingly hidden gem that the average fickle diner overlooks but rewards the adventurous with an unexpectedly good meal.I liked Taco Roc, but it feels like the kind of place where expectations get set artificially low, then when the food isn’t completely horrible, it somehow gets put on a pedestal. Granted, compared with the bevy of run of the mill Tex Mex places, Taco Roc is a bona fide oasis.
You’ll get fresh, authentic, and delicious Mexican at Taco Roc, no doubt about it. Just don’t go in expecting a transcendental Mexican food experience.

Went to lunch with my toddler daughter. Staff was so helpful. Helped carry my tray to the table. They even noticed my daughter really enjoyed olives and brought a small cup of them! Enjoyed my shrimp burrito immensely!

My hunny and I went there with my parents and it was great. We even went back the next night. The manager was especially accommodating the staff was super friendly and the food was fresh, hot, and delicious. While we were
there a pretty bad storm rolled through bringing tornado warnings, yet I felt completely safe. Most definitely has become one of our frequent hot spots.

Best tasting American-Mexican in town, but this place really shines as a fun place to have a drink. I love the tacos and the street corn, but I’ve been a little disappointed in other things I’ve gotten. Best tacos are the General Homeboy (spicy) and the Sloppy Jose. Half-priced margs and sangria are the best way to spend a Wednesday or Sunday (respectively). The nachos are a great deal, also.

The only way I know this place is from going on a date here with my ex who knew the owners… LOVE THE FOOD! True authentic Mexican at its best. They also offer soft corn tortillas as an option to the flour ones, and it provides a totally different experience when you’re eating. It’s good to have options! If you love food that is truly authentic to its culture, this is a great place to go.

I’ve come to expect most Mexican restaurants to make okay, mediocre food. Can you really ruin an enchilada plate? Probably not. Can you make a unique and stand-out enchilada plate? I assumed not. The food we had here was actually delicious, flavorful, and really exceptional. Id recommend the chicken enchiladas; the sauce in them is awesome!

Pollo Rey Mexican Restaurant

This is a new restaurant in East Ridge, TN. It is on a nice corner location that has been the home for many restaurants through the years. Some of you may remember the train in the parking lot. Edgar Perez and his wife opened the place last week on Thursday and they would be honored to serve you. Right now during the grand opening, everything is 10% off. Edgar brought my son & I a complimentary piece of chicken, which was a nice touch. I had a late lunch, so I only tried the tacos but my son had one of the house specials, Rey Pollo. The plate was large… and the prices here are low. The Rey Pollo is grilled chicken served over rice and drizzled with a cheese sauce and a side of tortillas. I tried a bite and it was good. Tacos are served with shredded lettuce and cheese, not the traditional onion and cilantro that I have become accustomed to from the places I have explored around Dalton, GA. I requested them “my way” and they were happy to comply. Somehow when they arrived at the table, they were not as promised ? I dismiss that as new restaurant “jitters” of some kind. There was no complaint in replacing the order promptly. I think given a chance, this will become one of my regular sources of Mexican food.
